--Family Emergency Program provided financial assistance for rent, utilities, medicines, transportation and miscellaneous costs to meet 2,197 requests for assistance, with $186,842 --Food Pantry collected $39,816 worth of donated food and made 1,079 deliveries of emergency three-day supplies of food to help 2,255 individuals. --Last Saturday Food Distribution Program gave out 309,367 pounds of food to almost 5,518 households of 14,417 individuals in one year in cooperation with the Capital Area Food Bank. --Child Development Center provided nationally accredited full-day preschool and childcare to support 115 low-income families and their children. --Furniture Program collected and delivered over $75,460 worth of donated furniture to serve 294 families needing beds, dressers, tables, chairs and other basic household necessities. --Housewares Program provided basic household items, which included over 1,100 kitchen items, bed linens, blankets, etc?to serve over 250 households last year. --ALIVE! The Arlington Alexandria Coalition for the Homeless (AACH), founded in 1985, supports and provides direct aid to homeless families and women. AACH does much more than simply provide emergency housing; it systematically helps homeless clients make the transition back to residential stability. AACH provides a foundation for rebuilding individual lives and families.

AACH operates 4 integrated programs: 1) Sullivan House, a 50 bed shelter in Arlington; 2) Adopt-A-Family, a 2 year scattered site transitional housing program for up to 40 families; 3) LifeWorks, their own in-house employment counseling and training service; and 4) Support for Kids in Transition (SKIT), comprehensive support to meet the unique needs of homeless children.
