United Way Agency - Christians United Outreach Center serves the working poor and indigent population of Randolph County through a variety of programs. The primary program of CUOC is short-term financial crisis intervention This program includes, but is not limited to, providing food, clothing, household items, furniture, gas vouchers so people can get to work or minor car repairs, RX assistance, heat, utilities, rent, mortgage payments, and medical equipment. Another program is a homeless initative called Project Independence (PI). PI is a long-term transitional housing solution with supportive services designed to assist a person(s) for a period of up to two years. Low Income Energy Assistance Program - MAJOR CHANGES FOR 2011 The program is limited in funding and will be open for applications from December 1, through March 31, 2012 or until funds are exhausted - whichever comes first.
Everyone must apply for the program Applications will be taken from December 1, 2011 through January 31, 2012 for the following target populations:
--- Households in which all persons living in the home are age 60 or older.
--- Households that have at least one member who is DISABLED and that disabled person is receiving services through programs under the NC Division of Aging and Adult Services.
Applications for all other persons will be taken between Feburary 1, 2012 through March 31, 2012.
The program has a limited allocation Once all funds are exhausted, the program will end.

Must apply and meet income guidelines, have a heating source/expense, and must have resources less than $2,200. Income must be equal to or below 130% of the Federal Poverty Level.

--- Households in which all persons living in the home are age 60 or older.
