United Way Agency - Christians United Outreach Center serves the working poor and indigent population of Randolph County through a variety of programs. The primary program of CUOC is short-term financial crisis intervention This program includes, but is not limited to, providing food, clothing, household items, furniture, gas vouchers so people can get to work or minor car repairs, RX assistance, heat, utilities, rent, mortgage payments, and medical equipment. Another program is a homeless initative called Project Independence (PI). PI is a long-term transitional housing solution with supportive services designed to assist a person(s) for a period of up to two years. To be eligible, the participant must meet the HUD definition of homeless and should be desire driven to become self-sufficient in 24 months, be willing to work with a program manager and volunteer mentor to develop a plan of action to reach such goals and be willing to
