Food Bank for the Heartland

10525 J St
Omaha, NE 68127
(402) 331-1213

Description
To provide emergency and supplemental food to 93 counties in Nebraska and western Iowa

The Food Bank works with nearly 400 organizations in Nebraska and western Iowa to combat the issue of hunger.  The Food Bank collects food nationally through its affiliation with Feeding America (a national organization of food banks and food & household product manufacturers).  The Food Bank also collects food locally through food drives and from local food manufacturers, food distributors and grocery stores.  Food is distributed to people in seventy-seven Nebraska counties and sixteen western Iowa counties.  The Food Bank distributes food to people in need through partner agencies such as Mission for All Nations and the Salvation Army food pantries. The food is then distributed to people who are hungry - food pantries, meal providers, emergency shelters, low-income child care centers, senior citizen programs, and rehab centers are all examples of these partner agencies. Food also gets delivered to individuals and families via programs designed and operated by The Food Bank such as The Food Bank for Kids BackPack Program, the Senior Outreach Program, Kids Cafés, and The Food Bank Fresh Produce Truck.
