Provides a food pantry, financial assistance, assistance with personal items, identification cards and referrals to a clothing closet. SERVICES: 1) FOOD PANTRY: Provides a five day supply of nonperishable foods. Can some times provide baby formula and some baby items.Can use pantry once every three months (as long as food supply allows). Also accepts donations of non-perishable food items.2) FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: Provides limited financial assistance once a year with BGE turnoff notices,eviction preventionandprescriptions and medical supplies. Will provide the last $100 if funds are available. Must bring utility turn-off and eviction notices, photo ID and social security. Call to make sure funds are still available. No source of income required. Does not have to be MEAP eligible. Also accepts monetary donations.3) HOTEL/MOTEL VOUCHERS: Works with individuals on a case by case basis in extreme emergency situations for placement for a night or two in a hotel/motel. Call to be screened for eligibility.4) CLOTHING: Refers individuals toa clothes closet on Tue and Thur.5) TRANSPORTATION: Offers limited funds for bus token to travel to verifiable job interviews and doctor's appointments.6) PERSONAL ITEMS: Provides health and hygiene products when available. Call for availability.7) IDENTIFICATION: Assists people in obtaining ID's every Wed, 12:30PM.8) HOLIDAY ASSISTANCE 2011: CLOSEDTHANKSGIVING: Provides individuals and families in the catchment area with Thanksgiving baskets. Prevents cruelty, abuse, and neglect of animals in the county by enforcing all state, county, and city ordinances to the fullest extent. Shelters homeless animals and attempts to place them in a safe and loving environment and educates the public on all animal issues to foster a more aware and caring community. SERVICES:1) NUISANCE ANIMALS: Picks up animals that are injured, sick, aggressive, or stray. This includes wild animals that have entered homes, such as squirrels or opossums. Also investigates animal bites and ensures proper precautions are taken.2) SHELTER SERVICES: Accepts stray, ill, injured, or unwanted dogs and cats and works to have lost animals reclaimed by their owners. Unclaimed animals are placed for adoption.3) ADOPTION: Applicants must be 18 years of age or older to adopt. Adopted animals must be licensed, neutered/spayed, and receive a rabies shot. Neutering/spaying is done at a veterinarian's office unless animal is already neutered or spayed. Cost of adoption varies so please call for further information.4) LOST AND FOUND PROGRAM: Takes lost and found animal reports from the public, posts at shelter for review by customers and staff.5) LICENSING: Issues county licenses for minimal cost. It is not required but is strongly suggested for easy identification if needed.6) DONATIONS: Monetary donations as well as animal food, toys, bedding, litter, pet cages, leashes, collars, pet or baby shampoos (used and samples okay), bleach, Dawn dish washing liquid, gift certificates from pet and grocery stores, and towels are needed.

A day clinic that provides health-related services, education and advocacy to reduce the incidence of homelessness in Maryland. SERVICES: 1) PRIMARY HEALTH CARE: For chronic health conditions.May also give referrals for specialty cases. 2) HIV SERVICES:Testing, counseling and treatment available. 3) MENTAL HEALTH CARE: Provides psychiatricevaluations, therapy and case management when needed.4) SUBSTANCE ABUSE SERVICES: Offers assessment, referrals, and individual and group counseling. Also offers buprenorphine. 5) CASE MANAGEMENT SERVICES: Assistance obtaining benefits, jobs, housing and other basic needs.6) OUTREACH: Provides outreach to shelters, soup kitchens and the streets. 7) CONNECT PROJECT: Intensive case management for HIV+ clients with one secondary illness. 8) CONVALESCENT CARE PROGRAM: Provides temporary shelter placement for those released from prisons or hospitals who are too ill to find shelter or to be accepted to a regular shelter. 9) DENTAL: Can provide free of charge dental care to homeless individuals who arereceivingservices from Healthcare for the Homeless. Children are accepted.10) PRISON OUTREACH: Case managers go to Maryland correctional institutions to refer inmates to Health Care for the Homeless, and other needed care. 11) OUTREACH: Outreach to family shelters; provide social work services, health assessments, diagnoses and treatments, health care referrals and school advocacy. Also helps connect people with primary care providers and other resources in the community. FREDERICK & MONTGOMERY COUNTIES: Although service is not limited to persons residing within any specific geographical area, it may be more convenient for persons in Frederick County to visit the Frederick Community Action Agency, 301-694-1506, and persons in Montgomery County to go to the Community Clinic, Inc., 301-340-9666 or Mobile Medical Care, Inc. 301-460-3535. These locations are affiliated with Health Care For The Homeless and provide free health care services. DONATIONS: Medical supplies, men's clothing, toiletries and pre-packaged food are needed.
