A day clinic that provides health-related services, education and advocacy to reduce the incidence of homelessness in Maryland. SERVICES: 1) PRIMARY HEALTH CARE: For chronic health conditions.May also give referrals for specialty cases. 2) HIV SERVICES:Testing, counseling and treatment available. 3) MENTAL HEALTH CARE: Provides psychiatricevaluations, therapy and case management when needed.4) SUBSTANCE ABUSE SERVICES: Offers assessment, referrals, and individual and group counseling. Children are accepted.10) PRISON OUTREACH: Case managers go to Maryland correctional institutions to refer inmates to Health Care for the Homeless, and other needed care. 11) OUTREACH: Outreach to family shelters; provide social work services, health assessments, diagnoses and treatments, health care referrals and school advocacy. Also helps connect people with primary care providers and other resources in the community. FREDERICK & MONTGOMERY COUNTIES: Although service is not limited to persons residing within any specific geographical area, it may be more convenient for persons in Frederick County to visit the Frederick Community Action Agency, 301-694-1506, and persons in Montgomery County to go to the Community Clinic, Inc., 301-340-9666 or Mobile Medical Care, Inc. 301-460-3535. These locations are affiliated with Health Care For The Homeless and provide free health care services. DONATIONS: Medical supplies, men's clothing, toiletries and pre-packaged food are needed.

OVERVIEW: Provides transitional housing, supportive services to Veterans including the permanent housing assessment, and shelter transportation for single women. - - SERVICES: - 1) TRANSITIONAL HOUSING: Provides transitional housing with supportive services that can include HIV case management, support groups and life skills training, and referrals to job training programs. Client can stay in transitional housing for 6 months-1 year. - - 2) SUPPORT SERVICES FOR VETERAN FAMILIES: Serves very low income Veterans (both individuals and Veterans and their families) who are homeless or at-risk of becoming homeless. Veterans must have an Honorable or General Discharge and have served at least one day in the military. Baltimore City residents only. - - o CASE MANAGEMENT: Provides case management services, referrals to permanent housing placements, assistance with obtaining benefits, transportation, job readiness and job placement assistance, etc. - - o TEMPORARY FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: Offers limited financial assistance to help Veterans remain in or obtain permanent housing. Can assist with rent (not mortgage), utilities, security or utility deposits, moving costs, transportation, or child care. Only participants receiving case management services will be eligible for financial assistance. - - 3) WOMEN’S OVERFLOW SHELTER AND TRANSPORTATION: Offers an overnight emergency shelter for 60 homeless single women. Women are only allowed to bring two bags. Transportation is provided to the shelter, 7 days/week. Women should begin arriving around 2:30PM and no later than 4:30PM, sign up with staff on premise, and the van pick-up will begin at 4PM. COMMUNITY SHELTER: Provides emergency shelter to adult men and women (18 and older). At the shelter clients can access showers, transportation and other outreach services. Individuals MUST request a bed by walking in and completing a bed request form between 8AM-4PM. Individuals will be notified of bed availability by phone. Individuals without a phone or contact number, can walk in and check bed availability daily. There is no guarantee for shelter space. Clients are not required to leave during the day but are asked to move from the sleeping quarters to the Day Room. There is a 2 bag maximum. OVERVIEW: Provides emergency shelter, transitional housing, and a learning center for homeless men. Also sponsors a summer camp. - - SERVICES: - 1) EMERGENCY OVERNIGHT SERVICES: Provides overnight shelter, 48 beds, shower, clothing, two meals and a non-denominational church service for one night. Opens at 2:30PM every day and accepts walk-in clients until 7PM on a first-come, first-served basis. Clients must leave by 6AM the next morning. Clients are allowed one night of free shelter and are then charged $3 per night for additional days. - - 2) HALFWAY HOME: Provides the Spiritual Recovery Program, which offers free room and board to eligible men willing to commit a year to spiritual recovery from issues that led them to homelessness. Applicants must complete an intake application and undergo a pre-screen interview with the Program Manager. Must commit to a 45-day in-house restriction, attend daily Bible and chemical dependency classes, fulfill work therapy requirement, and complete required hours in the Learning Center. Must submit to a physical examination and random drug screenings, and adhere to all Program and Mission rules. - - 3) HOLIDAY ASSISTANCE 2017: - o THANKSGIVING: Meal served Thanksgiving day, 11AM-12:30PM - o CHRISTMAS: Meal served on Christmas day, 11AM-12:30PM - o VOLUNTEERS: Adults needed to assist with serving meals and clean-up for Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners. - - 4) DONATIONS: Accepts donations of food, clothing, personal hygiene toiletry items, cars, boats on trailers, and trucks in working condition are accepted. Lodgers are permitted to stay for an initial period of one month, however, they must vacate the shelter from 8AM-4PM each day. Women who do not return to Karis Home by 6PM for more than one night will lose their space unless they are hospitalized, proof is required. Women must attend daily church service to stay in shelter.
