NOTE: We see emergency clients from 8-11:30AM Monday through Friday.Provides eligible families, renters, boarders and homeowner's financial assistance with heating, utilities, and weatherization of their homes. It is a one-time only payment per heating season and covers only part of the heating costs. (See below for eligibility and application requirements)SERVICES:1) MEAP (Maryland Energy Assistance Program): Offers assistance with heating bill in the winter and is based on the type of fuel used, household size, household income and annual consumption.2) EUSP (Electrical Universal Service Program): Offers year round assists with electric utility bill payments. Client is required to have bill in his/her own name and be on a monthly budget billing plan. Some funds are available for a one time only benefits for past due bill payments.3) WEATHERIZATION ASSISTANCE PROGRAM: Refers eligible families and individuals to this program to help make their homes more energy efficient. 1.) RENTAL ASSISTANCE: Provides financial assistance to Frederick County residents who are facing eviction. Does not assist with regular rent payments. To qualify for this service individuals must supply a court ordered eviction notice or rent court notice, documentation of financial hardship, proof of all household income, documentation of household expenses, and proof of sustainability after assistance is provided. Religious Coalition can only assist with a portion of the need - client must provide the remaining balance. - - 2.) SECURITY DEPOSIT ASSISTANCE: Provides assistance with security deposits for Frederick County residents who are at risk of becoming, or are actively homeless. Applicants must be a Frederick County resident prior to applying for assistance. No assistance can be provided to help with relocation to Frederick County. To apply, individuals must provide a rental agreement or pending lease, proof of all household income, proof of homelessness, income and expense documentation. Religious Coalition can only assist with a portion of the need - client must provide the remaining balance. - - 3.) ENERGY ASSISTANCE: Assists individuals who are experiencing active utility termination with payment of their gas, electris, or heating oil expenses. This program runs mid-April through the end of November with a termination notice. Assistance can be provided after that time to those who have had their utilities completely terminated. NOTE: Does not assist with security deposit for utilities or without a turn-off notice. To apply, please provide a termination notice in the applicant's name, proof of sustainability after the assistance is provided, proof of all household income, income and expense documentation for the household, proof that a payment has been made within the last 6 months. Religious Coalition can only assist with a portion of the need - client must provide the remaining balance.

Identifies emergency needs in the community and develops programs and coordinates resources to meet those needs. SERVICES: 1) FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: Emergency relief fund provides financial assistance for utilities (electric, gas, water), heating oil and mortgage/rent. Assistancein other areas are considered on a case by case basis. Assistance is limited in the amount of frequency. 2) FOOD BANK: Offers free dry goods to low-income area residents. Located in thelower levelof Walkersville Town Hall, 21 W Frederick Street. Open most Saturdays from 6:30PM-8PM and Thursdays from 1PM-3PM.3) THRIFT SHOP: Offers gently used clothes at no or minimal cost. Located in the basement of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 19 W Pennsylvania Avenue. Open most Saturdays From 10AM-2PM. Clients may purchase bags of clothing for $2.00 per bag. Coats are $1.00 and shoes are free. 4) SUMMER LUNCH PROGRAM: Provides healthy lunches for kidsup to 18 during the summer months while school is not in session. Provided at three locations: o Discovery Homeowners Association Building o Creamery Park5) BACK TO SCHOOL PROJECT: Provides needed school supplies to any children prior to thestart of the new school year. 6) HOLIDAY ASSISTANCE 2012:Thanksgiving Food Boxes: Call 301-845-4229 for information on how qualify and obtain a food box. You must provide a picture I.D. and some type of bill with your address.Holiday Toy Shop: Offers holiday assistance to area families in need for children ages birth to 12 years of age. Sign up dates are Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2012 from 9AM-9PM at Walkersville Town Hall. Oct. 18th and 25th from 1-3PM, and Oct. 22nd and 29th 6:30-8PM at the Glade Valley Food Bank (last sign up date is firm). Must provide proof of income, Picture I.D., social security cards, birth certificates for all children, and Grandparents must provide proof of guardianship. Please also provide a wish list and clothing sizes.Crosschecks will be done with Salvation Army and The Religious Coalition. Distribution day will be December 13, 2012. Your pick up time will depend upon the order in which your application was received. DONATIONS: Monetary donations, clothes and dry goodsare needed.
