SERVICES: 1) HOMELESS SERVICES: Provides shelter referrals for those who have been evicted. 2) SECTION 8 HOUSING: Provides rent subsidies through a federal program to enable families, elderly or disabled persons to locate decent housing at affordable prices. Eligible households must locate housing on their own. 3) RENTAL ALLOWANCE PROGRAM: Provides a monthly rental allowance for up to 6 months to homeless or low-income households with critical housing needs. 4) HOUSING LOANS: Offers counseling and loans for low-income, prospective homebuyers. Also offers rehabilitation loans for low-income homeowners. 5) FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: Provides one months rent or security deposit for those who are in jeopardy ofbeing evicted. Also offers financial assistance for utility turn-offs. 6) OHEP/MEAP: See separate entry in this catalog. 7) FOOD PANTRY: Provides a 2-3-day supply of food. Call for times and eligibility requirements. 8) HEAD START: See separate listing. 9) TRANSPORTATION: Runs public and medical transportation. Fare for public transportation ranges from $1.00-$4.00 per way.
