FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: Provides emergency financial assistance up to $600 for utility turn-off notices (electric, gas, oil bills), rent payment assistance (individuals must have already been to court and have a judgment against them). If residing in Section 8 or subsidized housing, will only pay 1 month of rent. Also, assists with burial assistance ( deceased individuals must have been a Howard County resident and must have been receiving either TCA or SSI; not eligible if they received Social Security), first month's rent for an individual or family moving into a new home (grants will be provided based on income and demonstrated need, and individuals must be a Howard County resident and must be able to demonstrate ability to continue to pay rent after assistance is provided), and will assess for other qualifying emergency needs. Does not assist with foreclosures.

Eligibility
Assists single adults, 18 and older, with utility turn-off notices, rent payment assistance. Assists individuals and families with burial assistance and first month's rent. Persons 18 years and older in need of assistance.
