OVERVIEW: Provides a wide range of emergency services to residents in need. - - SERVICES: - 1) FOOD PANTRY: Provides perishable and non-perishable food once every six months to individuals and families in need. Must have applied or attempted to apply for food stamps at DSS. Call the office for an intake, during business hours. - - 2) GOOD NEIGHBOR FUND: Offers financial assistance for utility disconnects and eviction prevention. Must be utilized as a last resort and may pay up to the last $250 for eviction prevention and $200 for utilities. - - 3) CLOTHING/FURNITURE: Offers clothing items through the Thrift Store. Items may be free if person making request has a report from the fire or police department. - - 4) EMERGENCY SHELTER: Provides a 26-bed shelter for men, women and children. Residents may stay up to two weeks but will bay be extended beyond 2 weeks for special cases. They must provide two valid ID's and Social Security card upon checking in between 7PM-9PM. Breakfast and Dinner will be served and all residents must leave shelter by 7am to look for employment. - - 5) COUNSELING: Offers free counseling services by a licensed social worker to anyone in need. - - 6) HOLIDAY ASSISTANCE 2017:(CLOSED) Provides holiday assistance to low-income families in need of services. Residents must sign up and complete an intake for Thanksgiving /Christmas Baskets and the Angel Tree Program. Applications will be accepted on October 2ND-13TH from 9:30AM-12Noon & 1pm-3pm.. For residents of Caroline, Dorchester, Talbot or Queen Anne's County only! - - THANKSGIVING/CHRISTMAS BASKETS: Provides gift cards to grocery stores for families in need (regular clients are given priority). - - CHRISTMAS ANGEL TREE: Provides toys and gifts for children 12 years and under. - - ELIGIBILITY FOR HOLIDAY ASSISTANCE: - Children ages newborn through 12 years old are eligible for the Angel Tree Program with approved applications. Clothing and shoe sizes for children 12 and under will be needed. Families and Seniors (65+) are eligible for a food basket with approved applications. - - Documentation needed for financial assistance: - Photo ID for the applicant - Proof of residency (Utility Bill) - Birth Certificate for all children - Proof of income and monthly expenses - Acceptable forms of Secondary ID: - State Issued Drivers license - Stare issued or government issue photo ID - U.S. Passport - Employee ID - School ID| - Health Insurance card (not Medicare) - U.S. Military ID - - 7) DONATIONS: Monetary gifts, slightly worn clothes, food, toys, shoes, gloves and coats (items should be new if they are being donated for holiday gift Items). Also household items, school supplies and book bags. - - 8) SCHOOL SUPPLIES 2017: Provided to the children of their clients that are receiving services through their social services. Sign ups are held during the last 2 weeks in July. Also accepts donated school supplies for the community book bag drive. - -

OVERVIEW: Provides financial assistance, housing counseling, emergency shelter for men and food pantries. - - SERVICES: - 1) FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: Offered for court ordered evictions and utility turn-offs. Client must complete an intake form. Once approved and funds are available, a check will be mailed to appropriate vendor. Must provide proof of need, income and photo id. - - 2) HOME FORECLOSURE PREVENTION: Offers mortgage and foreclosure counseling to anyone in need regardless of income. A counselor will advise clients on how to solve financial issues that could lead to loss of a home. - - 3) TRANSITIONAL HOUSING: Offers transitional shelter for single men only. Residents can stay up to 18 months if compliant of policies. Must call for intake during business hours. - - 4) FOOD PANTRY: Provides bagged goods of perishable and non-perishable foods once every 30 days per household on Mon, Wed & Thurs 9AM-4PM. No referral needed but must provide photo id, proof of income and residency. Food quantity is based on family size. - - 5) TAX ASSISTANCE 2018: Tax preparation starts during the week of Jan 22nd by appointments. For anyone that earned less than $54,000 during the 2017 tax year. Appointment times may be scheduled for Mon, Tues from 10AM-4:30PM, Thurs 10AM-6PM & Sat on the following dates: Feb 17th, Mar 17th & April 14th from 10AM-3PM. Walk-ins are accepted but services may vary based on scheduled appointments.

Must provide proof of income for the past 30 days of everyone working in the household and food stamp card if client is a recipient. - - 4) RIDGEWAY TRANSITIONAL SHELTER: Offers homeless adult males and females that need shelter or short term placement up to 30 days. Provides meals and assistance in finding jobs, offers basic computer skills and professional dress attire for interviews. Youths participates in arts, crafts, educational activities and field trips. - - 7) HOLIDAY ASSISTANCE 2017: For Talbot County low-income residents only. - THANKSGIVING BASKETS: Provides food baskets to families in need. Collaborates with other churches, local businesses and residents that donate their time and efforts in collecting these items. - - 10) COAT DRIVE: Accepts new or slightly worn coats, jackets or blankets to give to needy families during the fall through winter months. - - 11) DONATIONS: Accepts monetary donations that will help with financial assistance and food items that will stock the pantry and be used for holiday baskets. Provides assistance with an array of social service programs.SERVICES: 1) ELIGIBILITY FOR MEAP and ELECTRIC UNIVERSAL SERVICE PROGRAM GRANTS: Maryland residents whose gross monthly household incomes are within the following limits, July 1, 2012 - June 30, 2013: FAMILY SIZE GROSS MONTHLY INCOME MAXIMUM YEARLY 1 $1,628.95 $19,547.50 2 $2,206.45 $26,477.50 3 $2,783.95 $33,407.50 4 $3,361.45 $40,337.50 5 $3,938.95 $47, 267.50 6 $4,516.45 $54,197.50 Each additional person, add $577.50 $ 6,930APPLICATION: Must submit a copy of photo identity, proof of residence, copies of Social Security cards for all household members (including children), proof of household's total gross income for 30 days prior to application date (from all sources), name of home energy supplier and account number, a copy of the most recent utility bill and a copy of the lease (if renting).o OFFICE OF HOME ENERGY PROGRAMS: Provides MEAP and EUSP grants to eligible families, renters, roomers, boarders and homeowners toward the cost of heating in the winter and electricity year round. Grant is based on the type of fuel used, household size, household income and annual consumption. o EUSP (Electrical Universal Service Program): Assists with electric utility bill payment. Client is required to have bill in his/her own name and be on a monthly budget billing plan. Some funds are available for a one time only benefit for past due bill payments.o FURNACES: Limited funds are available for clients to be referred to the weatherization office for furnace repair, replacement, and/or other weatherization procedures.2) TRI-COUNTY FUEL FUND: Assists with fuel bills after client has exhausted other resources, such as MEAP. Client is asked to pay a percentage of the total bill. Client must meet income eligibility requirements. Program runs January-May.3) WEATHERIZATION ASSISTANCE PROGRAM: Provides energy conservation education, And freeinsulation of engery conserving devices& inprovements to low-income households to reduce energy costs.4) THE EMERGENCY FOOD ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (TEFAP): Receives government surplus food commodities and distributes them to local pantries.5) RENT/MORTGAGE/SHELTER ASSISTANCE: Provides limited financial assistance to prevent evictions,&homelesnessor to pay for a few nights at a motel, if homeless.6) INFORMATION AND REFERRAL: Provides information and referral for community services in the tri-county area.7) HEAD START: Encourages and promotes positive family and child development by preparing families of pre-school children for success in school, work, and the community. Components of the program include parent involvement, social services, health care and education. Call for locations.8) SENIOR COMPANION PROGRAM: Matches low-income seniors with homebound persons to assist with daily living, simple chores, transportation to medical appointments and relief to live-in caretakers for short periods of time. Senior companions must be55 or older, meet income requirements and be willing to serve 20 hours per week. Senior companions receive a stipend and reimbursement for mileage.9) RENTAL MANAGEMENT: Provides rental management services to some low-income rental developments.10) HOMEBUYERS WORKSHOP: Provides a foreclosure prevention counseling &community-based educational program that enables low-income families to become homeowners. Housing counselors review credit reports, provide credit counseling, and help clients upgrade credit status.11) HOUSING PRESERVATION: Assists clients in obtaining loans and grants for home repairs and new construction.
