1) FOOD PANTRY: Provides emergency food assistance once a month to area residents. Located at 111 First Avenue, Brunswick MD 21716 and open every Thursday evening from 6:30-8PM and 1st Sat of each month from 10:30AM-Noon. - - 2) FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: Offers help with rent, medication, utilities including fuel. Must meet income guidelines. Call for further details. - - 3) INFORMATION and REFERRAL: Offers referrals to resources for shelter, clothing,and other essentials. - - 4) HOLIDAY ASSISTANCE 2017: - o THANKSGIVING BASKET: Sign up during regular food bank hours from 6:30-8PM through November 10th. If you do not sign up you will not receive a basket. Pick up will be Saturday Nov. 12th from 10-1PM at the American Legion. - o CHRISTMAS ASSISTANCE: Offers families with children age 12 and under in the Brunswick School District Christmas assistance for toys and clothing. Sign up fro Christmas Assistance Oct. 20 & 27, 2017 from 6-8PM at the Brunswick City Parks Building. Pick up will be December 9th 1-8PM and December 10th 9-11AM. - Applicants must provide ID with proof of address, proof of income, and social security cards for the entire household, proof of bills, and a wish list for each child as well as clothing size. - 5) DONATIONS: Monetary donations are always welcomed as well as nonperishable/perishable food, hygiene items and household products such as dish liquid and paper towels.

NOTE: Must be resident of Middletown Valley (Middletown High School feeder schools). - OVERVIEW: Provides financial assistance, free tax preparation, drivers for medical appointments, coordinates holiday assistance, contributes to local school supply drive, exercise classes for 50 and older seniors, and offers information and referrals to other programs as needed. - - SERVICE: - 1) FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: Provides emergency financial assistance. - - 2) SCHOOL SUPPLIES: Set's up a school supply driver and collects school supplies in July to be handed out to those children that meet income guidelines in the month of August. - - 3) DRIVERS: Provides drivers for medical appointments. - - 4) EXERCISE PROGRAM: Exercise classes for groups and Seniors ages 50 and older. - - 5) BACKPACK PROGRAM: Provides food for needy children to take home with them over weekends during the school year. Contact your school counselor for details. - - 6) HOLIDAY ASSISTANCE 2017: Coordinates with Salvation Army to provide Christmas Assistance to needy families. To sign up for Christmas assistance call 301-371-3119 October 1st, 2017 through November 20th, 2017. Leave a clear message that you would like to sign up for holiday assistance. Include your name, phone number and call we be returned. Be prepared with a wish list and clothing sizes for your child or children when call is returned. - If you are donating please drop off items by December 6th, 2017 between 3-6PM. Families may pick up items on December 7th, 2017 between 2-6PM at Middletown United Methodist Church on Fern in Middletown. - - 7) FOOD PANTRY: See separate listing. - - 8) EMPTY BOWLS BANQUET: A silent auction fundraiser to benefit the programs so they may continue to help individuals and family in the area. - - 9) DONATIONS: Donations of school supplies, holiday contributions, and financial aide is welcome including gift cards to various grocery stores or department stores. Also distributes the government surplus food commodities program for the county.3) CHRISTMAS ASSISTANCE: Offers Christmas assistance (toys and clothing) to needy families with children through 12 years of age. Needed items include: spam, canned beef stew, canned single course dinners, canned pasta, instant potatos, spagetti sauce, boxed macaroni and cheese, breakfast cereal, boxed snacks and desserts, cookies, and crackers, Baby items needed are diapers, wipes, formula, and baby food. Gently used blankets and sleeping bags for the homeless. Monetary donations and grocery gift cards are welcomed.
