Works with transitioning foster care youth or youth already out of the foster care system. Provides information and assistance helping youth prepare become self-sufficient. Also offers grants to possibly help with cost of living, a food and clothing closet, and a life skills curriculum.SERVICES:1) SAVE OUR FOSTER YOUTH (SOFY): Offers funds to assist youth with expenses such as food, gas and electric, rent, bus fare, furniture and possibly other household needs, on a case by case basis. Individuals are eligible for financial assistance once a year.2) FOSTER YOUTH INC (FYI): Teaches school aged foster youth about their rights and responsibilities while in foster care, and presents service and leadership opportunities for youth. Also educates the community about the foster care system, improvements recommended, and advocates for change.3) WALK-IN CLOSET: Provides donated items of non-perishable food items, diapers, baby clothing, casual and job interview clothing, shoes, and coats.4) PREP FOR SUCCESS LIFE SKILLS: Covers life skills topics that youth, 21-25 years old, will need to help them transition out of foster care.5) TRANSITIONAL HOUSING: Offers transitional housing up to 18 months through private landlords in the Baltimore area. This is a month to month agreement. Also provides wraparound services and provides in house therapy. An Outreach Coordinator will contact the individual to schedule an appointment. Individuals can also call for assistance.6) VOLUNTEER SERVICE NAVIGATOR (VSN): Connects youth, ages 21- 25, with a seasoned adult to serve as a mentor, supporting and guiding youth with needed resources. Mentors work closely with MFYRC's Outreach Coordinator. Training is provided.7) EMPLOYMENT: Assists youth with career development by assessing skill sets, resume development, and interviewing skills.
