2.Adult Education & Training-A supportive service which provides older individuals with opportunities to acquire knowledge & skills suited to their interests, needs, and capabilities through either formal academic courses or informal methods.
3.Counseling-The provision of direct guidance and assistance in the utilization of needed service, and help in coping with personal problems.
4.Emergency Food & Shelter Program-Emergency funds, provided by the federal government are available for persons with referrals and documentation of their needs.
5.Assessment Screening-Assisting older persons in attaining and maintaining a favorable health condition by helping them to identify and understand their health needs and to secure necessary preventive medical care. Included are regular blood pressure checks, exercising classes, eye screening,glaucoma test, audio screening, foot care,and lectures by physicians, nurses, and other medical personnel.
6.Homemaker Service-Personal care home maimtance tasks for the elderly in their homes by a trained and supervised homemaker. Includes light house keeping.
7.Information & Assistance-Service which seek to match a wide variety of individual needs with appropriate community resources through individual advice, counseling referral and follow-ups.
8.ProBono Elderly Project-Free legal service to help those with legal problems, directly through advocacy, advice, referral, or finding a private attorney to handle a case without charge or at least at a very minimal fee.
9.Nutrition-Congregate-Nutritionally balanced meals for persons 60 & over and their spouses, provided in a group setting served at the Senior Center and Satellite Site. Home Delivered Meals (Meals-On-Wheels)nutritionally balanced meals to home bound persons 60 and over who live alone and are unable to leave their residence or prepare meals for themselves.
10.Ombudsman-A parish and statewide service which involves investigation and resolution of complaints made by or on behalf of consumers who reside in nursing homes without necessarily describing blame to any of the involved parties. Ombudsman personnel are specially trained and visit each patient in the nursing home periodically.
11.Outreach-Initial seek and search acitvities to identify isolated and hard to reach individuals in order to assist them in gaining access to needed services. A needs assessment follows each outreach.
12.Recreation-Enabling older persons to use and more fully enjoy leisure time, including individual and group social activities,and pursuits such as arts, crafts, hobbies, travel, games, sports, and trips.
13.Transportation-Transporting older persons to and from community facilities in vans,which are wheelchair lift equipped.
14.Helping Hands-An emergency assistance program provided for low-income elderly and handicapped.
15.Volunteer Opportunities-Volunteers lectures by physicians, nurses, and other medical personnel.
