Friends in Deed provides a limited rent payment assistance help for people becoming homeless through eviction.

There are volunteer opportunities available for anyone who wants to help.


Hours
Monday through Thursday, from 9:00am to 4:00pm, and on Friday, from 9:00am to 3:00pm.

Eligibility
Must be Pasadena residents. Individuals need to have a 3 or 30 day eviction notice, a rental agreement under individuals name, be currently living in the city of Pasadena, have incoming income to show rent sustainability, and fall under the income limits. For information regarding qualifications for this program please call for a screening appointment. Please, no walk-ins.

Description
The Support The Enlisted Project provides rent payment assistance, rent deposit payment assistance, mortgage payment assistance, electric payment assistance, and non-designated temporary financial assistance.

There are also other services for critical needs, and they include: groceries, past due rent, past due utility bills, past due car payments, past due auto insurance payments, mechanical repair of a vehicle, baby needs (diapers, wipes, etc.) or other critical items on a case-by-case basis.

In 2018, the program's volunteers contributed 7,896 hours. Volunteers are greatly appreciated.

The Salvation Army of Southeast Communities Huntington Park location offers utility payment assistance to those who need it. The program will not pay re-connection or deposit fees.

There is another program that provides utility bill assistance for residential customers of Southern California Edison through the Energy Assistance Fund (EAF). EAF will pay up to $100 for every household and $200 for every electrical household. Assistance can only be received once every 12 months.

The agency also receives private funding for gas bill assistance for residents of Downey and Huntington Park.
