Description
The Precious Life Shelter offers emergency and transitional shelter for six pregnant women 18 and older.

For the emergency shelter, guests are required to look for permanent housing, work, and can stay for two to three months after child birth.

For the transitional program, women must make their own meals, participate in household chores, learn life skills, and can stay for two years after birth.

They can also apply for the Single Parent Efficiency Program, and if they do, they can stay for to two years past child birth. The program requires participation in job training and school, or working full-time.

Monday to Friday 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, and on Saturdays, 10:00 am to 1:00 pm.

Rainbow Services LTD provides shelter to victims of domestic abuse, including pregnant women and their children. Services are also provided to single women; single men and fathers are accepted on a case by case basis.

Domestic-violence shelter services are available to any victim who is experiencing intimate partner violence. Transitional shelter is only available for victims who are referred from an emergency domestic-violence shelter. The maximum length of stay in a transitional shelter is 9 to 12 months.

The shelter may also accommodate families and individuals with pets, if conditions allow. Call for more information.

Secondary support services include TRO assistance, individual and group counseling, welfare advocacy, court accompaniment and transportation.

Description
The Interval House Crisis Shelters and Centers for Victims of Domestic Violence provides shelter for victims of domestic violence and their children who are in the Long Beach and surrounding areas.

The program also accepts out-of-state individuals fleeing from an abusive partner. The shelter can serve single men, women, pregnant women, and women who have disabilities (if they can care for themselves).

Services include meals; individual, group, and family counseling; parenting education; advocacy with medical, legal, welfare and other relevant service agencies; TRO assistance; and other services. Individual and family counseling, play therapy, and support groups for children are also offered.

The program works with other agencies to provide schooling, tutors, clothes, health care, outside activities, and child care. A support group and individual counseling are offered for women which they may attend after they leave the shelter. The shelter has second stage housing, also.

If you want to help, volunteers are appreciated greatly.

The program will accept victims who have come from outside California fleeing a batterer. The shelter accepts victims who have been battered by a spouse, heterosexual partner. The shelter can serve single men, women, pregnant women and women who have disabilities, including wheelchair users, if they can care for themselves. There are no geographic restrictions.

The Jewish Family Service of Los Angeles provides shelter for victims of domestic abuse and their children. The children accepts children of any age and gender and single women. Substance abusers cannot be accommodated.

Length of stay is 30 days, but a 45 day extension can be arranged. Supportive services include case management; individual and group counseling for the women and for children; advocacy for government benefits; legal assistance, including TRO assistance and court accompaniment; lifeskills training and education; permanent housing assistance; and parenting education.

Description
The Hope of the Valley Rescue Mission Van Nuys Help Center offers Services include shelters, bathing facilities, clothing, personal hygiene/grooming supplies and temporary mailing address.

Clean clothes, hygiene and shower kits, basic medicines, and blankets are available. The shower facilities are based on a first-come, first-served basis. The staff may also provide referrals to other community services.

The Genesis House is a 30-bed family shelter with special emphasis on homeless mothers and children.

The Bridge Transitional Living Facility is a shelter for men.

There is also an 85-bed cold-weather shelter in Pacoima, and a 55-bed cold-weather shelter in Skid Row.

In Van Nuys, there is a drop-in shelter called the HELP Center.
