Description
The St. Thomas the Apostle Church provides ongoing and emergency food assistance. The contents of the bag vary, but each family receives about 50 pounds of food. Individuals and people with fewer than three children are served once a month, but people with three or more children receive assistance twice a month. People outside the service area can be helped once and then given a referral. Hygiene items such as soap are sometimes available.

Families with children older than 16, and families with no children are served on the first Saturday of every month, 6:00am to 8:30am. Senior citizens and families with senior members are served on the second Saturday of every month, 6:00am to 8:30am. Families with children younger than 16 are served on any Saturday, 6:00am to 8:30am

Eligibility
People who are homeless or undocumented are eligible for service. People who receive government assistance are served only in an emergency. Service is restricted to people within the parish boundaries; zip codes 90006, parts of 90007 and 90019. Services include occasional and ongoing emergency food assistance.

Individuals and families with fewer than three children may be served one time per month. Families with three or more children may be served two times per month. People who live outside the service area will be served one time only and be given a referral to a food agency closer to their residence.

Applicants are given a number as they arrive and food is distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.

Documents Required
ID for all family members and proof of residence are required. ID is not required for homeless people.
