Description
The Necessities of Life Program provides free food to low-income people with HIV/AIDS in Los Angeles County.

The program is ongoing emergency food assistance, and the typical bag of groceries include items such as frozen meat, fresh produce, fresh dairy, canned goods and dry goods, as well as hygiene and cleaning supplies.

NOLP clients also receive bilingual, one-on-one nutritional counseling and nutrition classes. Fact sheets about a range of nutrition topics and recipes for use with NOLP products are available in all NOLP locations.

The program actively recruits volunteers to work with the food distribution program.

Tuesday, 10:30am to 12:00pm and 1:30pm to 4:00pm.

Eligibility
Low-income individuals living with HIV/AIDS in Los Angeles County, with a monthly income of less than $1,700. Services are restricted to Service Planning Areas (SPAs) 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 8.

Documents Required
ID, proof of residency in Los Angeles County, proof of income, and a nutrition screening completed by a dietician or medical provider at their own health care facility or have a signed nutrition education form from AIDS Project Los Angeles.

First-time clients must provide a medical diagnosis form.

The Long Beach Rescue Mission provides free meals for the less fortunate.

Breakfast is only for residents and overnight residents only.

Lunch is open to the public and served at 12pm from Monday through Thursday. Please arrive before noon to be served. Sunday lunch is served after the chapel service and served at 10:30am.

The Long Beach Community Services Center provides free food to the less fortunate who are in the Long Beach area. People may receive assistance once per month.

The program provides groceries that may include fresh produce, meat, and snacks. Formula and baby food may also be available, depending on donations. The amount of food is enough to last for three or four days, and the amount given depends on family size.

On Tuesdays, sandwiches and snacks are available on a first come, first served basis until the supply is gone.
