The St. Francis Center offers 10 minute showers and hygiene kits, which include basic toiletries, towels, and clean underwear and socks. Facilities are limited and are offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

Description
The Midnight Mission provides bathing facilities, mail facilities, a homeless shelter for women, and a safe sleep shelter.

The bathing facilities are available as needed for men, women, and children. There is also a beautician to assist the women till noon. There is a full barber service for men 3 times a week.

Their mail service is for anyone who wants to receive mail. The facility is usually for homeless people, but can be used by people without proper identification.

Their women's shelter provides shelter, meals, career training, case management, and other services.

Their safe sleep program offers shelter for hard-to-reach customers who tend to avoid shelter beds and require other basic needs. They provide a separate rooms designed just for families.

The transitional housing program offers substance abuse treatment facilities. It is for men who seek to get off the street, strive for healthy living and achieve self-sufficiency.

For anyone who wants to help, there are volunteer opportunities available.

Union Mission Homeless Shelter

Description
Provides shelter for single homeless men and women 18 years and older. The maximum length of stay in the emergency shelter is 30 nights for men, however, if they fail to show up one night, their bed will likely be given away. The program can accommodate up to 745 people; over 450 men and 190 single women beds are available in a dormitory-style settings. The program can also accommodate men in chairs in the chapel who may return as often as needed.


People may stay up to 15 days for free; at that time they may elect to join one of the Mission's Life Transformation case management programs or be referred to another shelter. Those who choose a case management program are charged a maximum of $7 a day for their bed, three meals a day, storage, life skills training and case management. A minimum of $2 of this fee is placed in a savings account for the participant that will be available for withdrawal when they leave the program. Parents with children are expected to save up to 50% of their funds received from government assistance. 100% of savings is returned upon withdrawal.

The mission also provieds a drop-in center for people in the Skid Row area of downtown Los Angeles. Services are available during the lunch time schedule from 12:00pm to 3:00pm. Services include laundry facilities, mail service, restrooms and shower facilities. The program may also assist with simple banking needs.

Intake hours for men are Monday through Sunday, 12:00pm. Men line up and beds are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.

Intake hours for single women are Monday through Friday, 7:00am to 6:30pm; Saturday and Sunday, 12:00pm to 6:30pm on a first-come, first-served basis.

Drop in shelter and shower facility hours are from 12 pm to 3 pm.

Los Angeles Mission

Description
The mission provides shelter for homeless, single men age 18 and older who are in the Skid Row area of downtown Los Angeles. The program can accommodate 145 men per night. Chapel services, meals, clothing, and use of shower and shave facilities are included. There are no geographic restrictions.

Men sleep in a dormitory, adhere to the 5:00am wake-up time and 5:30pm check-in deadline, abide by the regulations that prohibit smoking and alcohol and drug use, and attend mandatory chapel services. They may stay a maximum of five nights and may extend their stay after that time is over; however, they are required to move beds every 15 days.

Men who are in the shelter program may enroll in the two-year residential program, the Urban Training Institute.

The Mission provides access to shower facilities and shaving utensils for homeless men. The mission also provides showers for women at Anne Douglas Center. In addition, pastoral counseling and chapel services are available for all residents of the Mission.

The Urban Training Institute component of the Mission provides adult basic education programs for homeless men and women who are residents in the program. Classes include ESL classes, GED preparation, literacy instruction, computer literacy and computer certification classes, basic subjects such as English and Mathematics. Academic classes are provided in cooperation with the LAUSD Belmont Adult School. The program also provides a vocational rehabilitation program that teaches job skills, workplace requirements, and mentored work experience within the Mission complex. The Career Development division prepares men for entry level positions and provides ongoing support to insure success as they enter the workforce.

Shower hours are Monday through Saturday at 12:30pm.

Eligibility
Men line up at the shelter prior to intake hours. Some form of ID is required. Participants must be able to climb four flights of stairs and sleep on the top bunk, if necessary.

Tickets to use shower facilities for men are available Monday through Saturday at 10:30am on a first-come, first-served basis;

Some form of identification is required for the shelter.

No identification is necessary for the showers.

Description
The Angel Step Inn provides shelter for single women 18 and older, and single mothers, including substance abusers. Maximum stay is 45 days; after 30 days, women may leave to go find proper housing. Women who work are requested to take a leave of absence from their job during their stay. Residents are expected to participate in shelter activities and household chores.

Other services provided are peer and group counseling for domestic violence and substance abuse, case management and different services.

Volunteer opportunities are available for anyone who wants to help.

Eligibility
For battered women and single women age 18 and older and women with children, including those with a history of using alcohol and other drugs.The shelter accepts women from other counties who are fleeing a batterer. There are no geographic restrictions.
