Description
The Florence/Firestone Service Center provides free food for anyone who lives in Los Angeles, including the homeless and/or undocumented. Services include ongoing and occasional food assistance. Ongoing food assistance provides a bag of canned and packaged goods; the amount given depends on family size, and people can only be assisted once a month. Occasional food assistance is targeted at people who are in urgent need of food and is provided based on availability; assistance is available only once.

The congregational meal program provides services for adults 60 years and older. Services include a congregate meal five days per week, public access computers and exercise classes/groups. The center also provides an exercise and fitness gym for seniors. There are age and geographic restrictions for some services. There is a suggested donation of $3.25 (optional).

Volunteers are appreciated.

Center Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm.

Ongoing Emergency Food Assistance Program
Intake and distribution hours are the second Tuesday of the month, 9:00am to 1:00pm.

Occasional Emergency Food Assistance Program
Intake and distribution hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm; must be at Center by 4:30pm.

Congregate Meals
Monday through Friday breakfast, served at 8:30am and lunch served at 11:30am.

Eligibility
For anyone who lives in Los Angeles including people who are undocumented or homeless.

Occasional emergency food is available for people in dire need of food and is provided based on availability. Occasional food assistance is available only once. Provision is based on availability.

People who need ongoing food assistance can receive food at the agency's ongoing program which occurs once a month.

Congregate Meals
For adults 60 years and older who live in the Florence/Firestone area. Applications must be resubmitted every 6 months.

Description
The Salvation Army of Southeast Communities Huntington Park location offers food assistance and a soup kitchen for those in need.

A four-day supply of groceries is available for families with children, single women, disabled people, and people aged 55 or older. The amount given depends on family size. The usual bag of food contains USDA food items and canned goods. Assistance can only be received once a month.

The brown bag program for seniors provides monthly groceries for seniors aged 62 and older. Calling each month to verify availability of food is recommended.

There is a soup kitchen which provides a hot lunch four days a week. The kitchen is targeted (but not restricted to) homeless people.

Volunteers are appreciated.

For families, couples and individuals who live in Bell, Bell Gardens, Cudahy, Downey, Huntington Park, Maywood and South Gate. Services include emergency food assistance and a brown bag program for seniors (62 years old and older).

Both food programs are offered monthly upon registration. Seniors should call monthly to verify availability of food.

Soup Kitchen service is targeted, but not restricted, to people who are homeless. There are no geographic restrictions.

ID for the head of the household; ID such as birth certificate, School ID or social security cards for all family members; proof of residence such as a current utility bill; and proof of income are required.
