Description
The Necessities of Life Program provides free food to low-income people with HIV/AIDS in Los Angeles County.

The program is ongoing emergency food assistance; the typical bag of groceries include items such as frozen meat, fresh produce, fresh dairy, canned and dry goods, as well as hygiene and cleaning supplies.

NOLP clients may also receive bilingual, one-on-one nutritional counseling and nutrition classes. Fact sheets about a range of nutrition topics and recipes for use with NOLP products are available in all NOLP locations.

The program commonly recruits volunteers to work with the food distribution program.

Eligibility
Low-income individuals living with HIV/AIDS in Los Angeles County. Participants must have a monthly income of less than $1,700. Services are restricted to Service Planning Areas (SPAs) 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 8.

ID, proof of residency in Los Angeles County, proof of income, and a nutrition screening completed by a dietician or medical provider at their own health care facility or have a signed nutrition education form from AIDS Project Los Angeles.

First-time clients must provide a medical diagnosis form.
