Description
The St. Lawrence of Brindsi Catholic Church provides free groceries for families, seniors, and people with disabilities. Services include government surplus food distribution sites, ongoing emergency food assistance, and sack lunches/dinners.

The bag of groceries contains USDA surplus food, canned vegetables and fruit, and packaged goods. The amount of food given varies on family size but typically lasts three days.

Sack lunches and beverages are offered three days a week and is targeted, but not restricted, to homeless people.

Tuesday and Thursday, 7:00am to 8:30am.

Eligibility
Families, senior citizens and people who have disabilities who live in Los Angeles zip codes 90002 and 90059, including families who receive government assistance.

Adults 52 years and older qualify as seniors.

Ongoing emergency food assistance is restricted to residents of zip code areas 90002 and 90059. There is no geographic restrictions for sack lunch services.

Documents Required
Proof of residence such as CADL, a CAID, a current utility bill and birth certificates for each child are required. People with disabilities must show proof of SSI or disablity papers.

The Interfaith Food Center provides a food pantry where they give out groceries once or twice a week, depending on household size, on an ongoing basis.

They also offer sack lunches for homeless people four days a week, and personal care items when available.

There are volunteer opportunities available for those who want to help.

Hours
January and February: Intake hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, 8:30am to 11:30am.
March through September: Intake hours are Monday and Thursday, 8:30am to 11:30am.
Distribution hours are Monday, Thursday, Friday, 8:30am to 12:00pm; Tuesday, 4:30pm to 7:00pm.

Sack lunch is provided daily; Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

Eligibility
Low-income families and individuals who live in Whittier, La Mirada and Santa Fe Springs or unincorporated Los Angeles County with a Whittier zip code.

The sack lunch program serves the homeless population of Whittier, La Mirada, Santa Fe Springs, and the surrounding communities, and individuals must live on the street, motel, car, and or shelter to qualify.

Documents Required
Food Program: CADL or CAID for head of household, proof of address (current utility bill or rental agreement), proof of income and proof of the number of household members. Identification and utility bill must have the same address.
