AGING RESOURCES serves persons 60 years of age and older living in Polk, Boone, Dallas, Jasper, Madison, Marion, Story and Warren Counties Aging Resources also provides state and federal funds to local provides of such services as: congregate meals, home delivered meals, homemakers, home health aides, chore services, home repair, adult day care, legal services, transportation, mental health outreach and preventive health/promotion. Programs include:

INFORMATION AND ASSISTANCE: Linking clients with available services, assessing eligibility for benefits and assisting with emergency needs. Information includes: local events and classes, in-home care, senior centers, meal sites and delivery, long-term care options, adult day and respite care, transportation, senior housing, prescription assistance, nursing homes and assisted living, support groups, and much more.

CASE MANAGEMENT FOR THE FRAIL ELDERLY assess frail older adults for service needs, develop a plan of care and coordinate services Client eligibility for Medicaid Elderly Waiver program can be assessed

IOWA SMP empowers seniors to prevent healthcare fraud by training volunteers to talk to senior group concerning detection of Medicare or Medicaid errors, fraud or scam Call 255-1310.

O.I.L. (OLDER IOWAN'S LEGISLATURE) is a unicameral model legislative body which provides an annual opportunity for older Iowans to participate directly in the legislative process A 2-day model legislative session is held at the Capital in September of each year Aging Resources of Central Iowa houses the coordinator for delegates from Area XI. IOWA FAMILY CAREGIVER PROGRAM works with caregivers to assess the needs of their friend/family member and link them to appropriate services A caregiver specialist will also provide education and counseling regarding caregiving issues Caregivers qualify for assistance, if they are caring for a 60+ older adult, are a 55+year old grandparent of children under age 18, or a 55+ adult who is assisting a disabled person of any age Funding may be available for respite, adult day care, emergency response systems, or other needed services. HOLIDAY MEALS ON WHEELS program makes it possible for 500+ homebound isolated persons over 60 years of age to receive a special holiday meal on Thanksgiving day and Christmas day Meal requests are accepted by referrals from elder service providers. Call 255-1310 for holiday meal information, to volunteer to deliver meals, or to provide financial support for the program.

LOAN CLOSET provides used durable equipment at no cost to seniors in need Donations of equipment are accepted.
