PROTEUS INC provides the following services:

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE primarily to non-English speaking individuals for mainly rent and utility assistance. Will assist English-speaking individuals on a limited basis in emergency situations.

EMERGENCY SHELTER PROJECT provides case management to homeless individuals, assistance to locate housing and access community services needed to transition from homeless status May be able to assist with rent, moving, clothing, transportation, emergency food, personal items, etc DO NOT HAVE TO BE A MIGRANT OR SEASONAL FARMWORKER TO QUALIFY, ONLY HOMELESS OR NEAR HOMELESS.

EMPLOYMENT and TRAINING PROGRAM provides assessment, career counseling, vocational training, Literacy/ABE/GED preparation, work experience, OJT and job placement Emergency Support services such as food and car repairs for in-stream migrants. Participants in educational programs may receive additional other support services (i.e. rental assistance, tools, and emergency transportation and child care assistance).

MIGRANT HEALTH provides health care services for migrant and seasonal farm workers. Health Aides to assess, refer and facilitate services Assistance in application for additional services such as WIC, Title 19, food stamps, etc Also serves non-documented individuals.

CROSS MINISTRIES is an outreach program established to assist people in crisis with basic survival needs such as rent, rent deposits, mortgage payments, utility bills, birth certificates, etc. CROSS can sometimes assist with vouchers for laundry, bus tokens and storage costs. Other services:

SHARE is a private, not-for-profit organization that provides up to 50% savings on food packages once a month. The standared food package varies monthly, and always contains packages fresh fruit, vegetables and meat. *MICA's Living With HIV program helps individuals with HIV in Boone, Franklin, Greene, Hardin, Hamilton, Marshall, and Story counties coordinate essential health services. Services include referrals to infectious disease specialists, locating medical and prescription coverage, and referrals to substance abuse and mental health programs. The Living With HIV program, in some circumstances, also helps individuals with living expenses and gasoline vouchers. MICA started the program in 2000.
