Description
Mid-Iowa Community Action serves low-income children and families through a variety of programs, including: Head Start preschool, Early Head Start child care, LIHEAP energy assistance, WIC nutrition, and family development programs, and food pantry can be visited once every 2 months and get bread daily with photo ID that proves they live in Story Co.

*MICA Story County Family Development Center offers information and referral services for low-income individuals ad families MICA may be able to help persons in need access emergency services such as: food assistance, rental assistance (depends on funding, no deposits for people being evicted or the homeless with photo ID proving live in Story Co.), furnace repairs, utilities assistance (depends on funding or if it will be a disconnect )and other services MICA works in collaboration with other nonprofit agencies and churches to help families in need.
*Provides in-home family development services Home visits to connect families with resources.
*Provide emergency dental services, dental care, children's sealants and fluoride care, fillings and extractions Elderly outreach program in clinic and long term care facilities.
*MICA's Living With HIV program helps individuals with HIV in Boone, Franklin, Greene, Hardin, Hamilton, Marshall, and Story counties coordinate essential health services. Services include referrals to infectious disease specialists, locating medical and prescription coverage, and referrals to substance abuse and mental health programs. The Living With HIV program, in some circumstances, also helps individuals with living expenses and gasoline vouchers. MICA started the program in 2000.

The Living With HIV program is based in Mid-Iowa Community Action's Story County office in the lower level of the Story County Human Services Building, 126. S. Kellogg, Ames. For more information, call (515) 956-3312

Project Share is an emergency energy assistance program through Alliant Energy Low income families may receive a one-time emergency payment to prevent electricity disconnection or to reconnect electricity Funds are not available for deposits
