Description
Children's clothing provided through Elk Grove Unified School District mail order. Request form for clothing is available through Healthy Start. Form should be filled out and signed by a school district employee, then sent through the school district mail to: Clothes Closet, Robert Trigg Education Center. Orders are then filled by volunteers and clothing sent through district mail back to the school site. School sites can set up a "Free Coat Day" activity by contacting Cathy O'Neil at cmoneil@macnexus.org. Donation checks should be made to Elk Grove Food Bank Services.

Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services is dedicated to assisting those in need by alleviating their immediate pain and problems and moving them toward self sufficiency and financial independence. Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services provides a 5 day supply of emergency groceries to families in need five days per week. In an effort to better move families toward self-sufficiency, grocery items such as dairy, meat, vegetables and fruit are distributed instead of hot meals. Over 18,000 individuals receive an abundance of fresh groceries every month. Cooking demonstrations along with suggested recipes are provided to every family so clients feel empowered to use the goods they receive. Their quality groceries come from a variety of sources including donations from local grocery stores, organic farmers and the community. Food is distributed to clients in a respectful and dignified manner. Set up like an open-air, farmers’ market, individuals and families are invited to see the produce, enjoy a cooking demonstration, gather health and nutrition resources and ask questions about the products they are receiving. Program Description: Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services provides over 450,000 articles of clothing free of charge to families and individuals in need throughout the Sacramento community.All items are dropped off at their facility in Oak Park, where volunteers sort through items by categories based on size, season and gender. Items are then displayed on racks, where clients can sort through items in search of what they need: men’s clothing, women’s clothing, children’s clothing, shoes, business attire, school uniforms, coats, umbrellas and much more. Clients are welcome to shop once a month and all items are provided at no cost. Program Description: The Adult Education program provides unique learning opportunities to adults at no cost in a supportive, highly personalized and non-judgmental environment. Education is provided in the classroom setting as well as through one-on-one tutoring and appointments. All services are free to the community and open to adults over the age of 18. Educational services include tutoring in literacy, math, reading and writing, English as a Second Language (ESL) classes, assistance with job searches, resume building workshops, computer basics classes in English and Spanish and aerobic exercise classes. See schedule below for times and locations.Students have experienced gaps in their education due to moving, missing school, illness or any number of reasons. Students, especially those with learning disabilities, benefit greatly from one-on-one tutoring instead of the traditional classroom setting, working at a comfortable pace set by the student. Spiritual help and beds, clothing, food, and counseling service for men. Check-in time for overnight (6:30 pm - 6:30 am) guests is from 6:30 pm to 6:45 pm on a first-come/first-served basis. Attendance at Gospel service each day at 7:30 pm is mandatory. Dinner at 8:30 pm. Lunch is served Sundays after the 11 am service. Meals are open to everyone who attends the service - men, women, and children. Clothing for men Monday through Thursday 9 - 11 am and 1 - 3 pm, Friday and Saturday 9 - 11 am. Drug and Alcohol Program: apply Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday, 9 am - 2 pm (men only) to be screened and fill out an application. 12-Step program requires minimum 45 week commitment; no maximum. Participants are expected to do in-kind chores as needed.
