Description
The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) sponsored through the Pinellas County Urban League provides energy payment assistance on behalf of low-income individuals and families who meet the program's eligibility requirements. Three (3) categories of assistance are available. Home Energy Assistance Funds pay a state - designated portion of the client's utility bill directly to the utility company.
Crisis Assistance Funds pay the client's actual utility bill owed, up to $300 and/or other necessary emergency expenses, such as electric fans in a heat emergency during the summer months or heaters and blankets in a cold weather emergency during the winter months.
- Additionally, Weather Related Crisis Funds are available to clients when they are directly affected by a weather related or energy supply shortage as declared by the Governor and/or President of the United States. Serving Pinellas County .
