Description
Men's Homeless Shelter
Religion-oriented shelter. Alcohol test and TB test required (TB tests provided for free at Las Islas Clinic) upon intake. If your TB test is negative you can sleep inside. If your TB test is positive, you can stay but you must sleep on the patio (sleeping bags and mats are provided). There is a 10 day maximum stay; if you want to stay longer you must vacate for at least five days after every period.

Substance Abuse Recovery Program
There is also a 10 month substance-abuse recovery program that is bible-based and free. Classes in the program include Christian 12 Steps, anger management, culinary, computer skills, and vocational training opportunities.

Volunteer opportunities are available to those who would like to help the homeless and/or those in recovery.

Hours
Must arrive by 4:30pm to be considered for intake on Mondays to Thursdays.

For the substance abuse shelter interviews are from 10:30am to 11:30am on Mondays to Thursdays.

Eligibility
Adult males.
First come, first served.

Documents Required
For the shelter you need a valid photo ID and proof of TB test.

For the substance-abuse recovery program you need a valid ID and TB test card.

Description
Homeless Shelter:
Lighthouse for Women and Children offers homeless shelters for single women and single mothers and their children. There's a 30 day limit, but if the conditions are right, you may be allowed to stay for up to six months.
The shelter provides dinner, showers, clothing, and a clean bed.

Substance Abuse Recovery Program:
There's also a substance abuse recovery program for women and women with children. The program is nine months and it provides addiction recovery, life skills, vocational training, programs for children, and Biblical studies and counseling.

Volunteer opportunities:
Volunteer opportunities are meal preparation, meal service, clean up, tutors, counselors, and other opportunities. Children ten and older are allowed to volunteer with an adult.

Hours
24 hours a day, seven days a week. Appointments for the women's shelter are accepted form nine am to three thirty pm, Monday through Friday.

Eligibility
The women's shelter you need to have an appointment.Children must be ten or younger, but some exceptions for up to 12.

Documents Required
Women must have an ID card or get theirs within 72 hours. Children must have social security card, birth certificate, or some form of identification and must ten or under, occasional exceptions for up to 12. The parent must have proof of being their guardian or biological parent, and all guests must have a tuberculosis test within 72 hours.

The Central Coast Rescue Mission provides a substance abuse recovery program that is for eight to 12 months, residential Christian based, and smoke free facility. The program offers individual counseling, case management, and classes. In addition to the classes, there's a variety of vocalization and skill development in their thrift shop and Mission. For enrollment, an in-person interview is required and an appointment is necessary.

If you'd like to volunteer, all you have to do is fill out an online application.

Eligibility
Men only, and it's a recovery shelter. To make an appointment, just call the mission.

It's recommended to bring your social security card, driver's license or ID, and a current T.B card.

Description
The Villa Majella provides shelter for five pregnant women 18 years and older, for after three to six months after birth, and sometimes up to one year, and they can accommodate substance abusive women who want to give birth in a sober environment, but you must have been sober for thirty days before entering the shelter.

They provide food, toiletries, maternity clothes, and baby items for those who can't provide for themselves. After birth, they might have to start looking for a car to buy, going to school or work, and finding permanent housing. Every guest is required to help with household chores and smoking and drugs or alcohol are all prohibited. There is a $50 room deposit fee.

There are many types of volunteer opportunities available, including babysitting, education on nutrition, and other opportunities.

Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

ID, pregnancy verification, and negative TB test results.

The Lutheran Social Service provides bathing, mail, and laundry facilities for homeless people. They also give clothing, food, case management, bus tokens, and other services.

They also offer a cold weather shelter for homeless people in winter (December 1st through March 31st). Clients are supposed to check in between 5:45pm and 8:00pm and leave by 7:00am the following morning.

For anyone who wants to help, there are volunteer opportunities available.
