OVERVIEW: Provides assistance to individuals in need of financial assistance, food and homeless services. - - SERVICES: - 1) DINING ROOM (Soup Kitchen): Offers hot meals to anyone in need on Tues, Wed and Thurs, 10:30AM-12PM. - - 2) EMERGENCY FOOD PANTRY: Provides groceries once every 30 days on Tues, Wed, and Thurs, 8:30-11:30AM for Wicomico County residents only. Clients are screened, but no referral is necessary. Formula and pampers sometimes are available. Need ID and Social Security card for everyone in the family (if they are new clients or have not been to the Center for a year). - - 3) FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: Provides funds for court-ordered evictions (go to DSS first), first month's rent or security deposit (need leasing agreement), utility turn-offs, water bills and prescriptions (go to Salvation Army first). Walk-ins must come in between 8-8:30AM on Tue, Wed and Thur. Their names are placed on a lottery list to receive service. - - 4) HOSPITALITY DAY ROOM FOR THE HOMELESS: Provides a temporary day shelter for homeless men and women. Offers showers, laundry, breakfast, lunch and one bag of clothes. - - 5) HOLIDAY ASSISTANCE 2017: - THANKSGIVING: (CLOSED): Offers food giveaways to anyone in need, must sign up by 10/31. New clients signing-up or clients updating their cards after 10/31 will not be eligible to receive a turkey, only a chicken. Pantry clients will receive the following: Families with 1 to 3 will receive chicken. Families of 4 or more will receive a turkey. - - Distribution for the turkeys and chicken will be on Mon 11/21 & Tues 11/ 22. There will be no food bags passed out on these dates. - - CHRISTMAS: Provides Christmas toys giveaway to families in need. Must be a client of the food pantry. New pantry clients must sign up by 11/30 in order to receive assistance. Any client that is signing up at the Salvation Army for Christmas assistance will be asked to decide who they want to receive their gifts from. If they decide to get them from Joseph House then they will notify the Salvation Army of the client's decision. - - Distribution of toys will be Tues 12/19, Wed 12/20 & Thurs 12/21. There will be no food bags passed out on these dates. - - 6) REPRESENTATIVE PAYEE: Provides assistance to anyone that needs help managing their finances and paying their bills so that they will not fall into a crisis situation. OVERVIEW: Regulates and offers a wide range of comprehensive I&R for individuals of the Public Mental Health System in Wicomico and Somerset Counties that are receiving Medicaid or are not insure. - - SERVICES: - 1) CONSUMER SUPPORT FUNDS: Provides financial assistance to consumers of the Public Mental Health Systems maintain or access community placement. Assistance is provided one time per twelve months with rental assistance, security deposit, first month rent, utility bills including turn on and/or deposits. Also offers laboratory assistance funds for uninsured consumers of PMHS for blood tests that are needed to monitor psychiatric medications and prescription assistance for the uninsured for psychiatric medications. - - 2) TRANSPORTATION ASSISTANCE: Provides assistance for uninsured patients and medical assistance recipients in need of short term transportation to mental health appointments not covered by medical transportation. - - 3) SEXUAL HEALTH & RECOVERY: Provides mental health services at the Wicomico and Somerset Detention Centers. - - 4) SHELTER PLUS CARE HOUSING PROGRAM: Offers permanent housing for homeless PMHS consumers who have a serious mental illness and are currently incarcerated or have recently been released due to misdemeanor charge. - - 5) WELLNESS AND RECOVERY PROGRAM: Offered thru Lower Shore Friends Inc, that provides peer support and advocacy for individuals living with a mental illness in Somerset, Wicomico and Worcester County. - - 6) MINORITY YOUTH MENTAL HEALTH OUTREACH: Provides outreach and education to youth, parents, child-serving agencies and the faith based communities in Somerset, Wicomico, and Worcester County to increase the understanding of mental health services.
