Arkansas Rice Depot provides sensible solutions to hunger through a statewide faith-based foodbank. They provide food to 312 church and community food pantries and soup kitchens. Program Description: Free food and backpacks are provided through their Food For Kids program to over 600 public schools in Arkansas. A backpack filled with simple to prepare kid friendly food is given to children who are experiencing problems at school due to hunger at home. This program that was conceived by Arkansas Rice Depot in 1995 has now been replicated in over 40 states throughout the United States. Program Description: At least 50 pounds of food and household supplies are delivered each month to homebound senior citizens through their Food For Seniors program. Many cannot afford much needed medicine, and struggle to keep utilities on. After rent and utilities, the average money left for their seniors to buy groceries, clothing, medicine and all other needs totals $79, and some have only $25. Program Description: Free food and relief supplies are distributed through their Arkansas Disaster Relief Center to any Arkansas hunger agency or community assisting disaster victims. The disaster may be a house fire that affects one family, or a tornado that affects hundreds. Over 250,000 pounds of food was distributed to victims of floods, fires, and tornadoes in 2008.

Program Description: Arkansas Rice Depot also operates a gift shop both in their headquarters and online at www.ricedepot.org. They have developed a line of 14 gourmet rice, soup and chili mixes, that are packaged by volunteers. They also make gift baskets. These items make wonderful gifts that also share ytheir values as you give a tasty gift. All funds raised by the sale of their Simple Pleasures gifts are used to purchase food to feed the hungry of Arkansas.
