When there isn't enough food to go around, there are food pantries that provide groceries and soup kitchens that serve up warm meals in the Albany, NY region to those in need.
The FOCUS Interfaith Food Pantry provides families from the Capital Hill, Center Square, Hudson, Washington and Park South neighborhoods, and beyond, with a 6-day supply of food.Families may visit the pantry once each month. In addition to a balanced and nutritious food package, the pantry provides personal care items, fresh fruit, vegetables, and milk vouchers. The Interfaith Food Pantry also helps households by supplying information about additional community resources such as job training, housing, healthcare, food stamps, WIC and nutrition education. Guests are also provided with advocacy and referral services.

City of Albany residents with low incomes who live within a specific neighborhoods of Capital Hill, Center Square, Hudson, Washington and Park South.
The Arbor Hill Center Emergency Food Pantry provides emergency nutritional assistance to families living in the South End and Arbor Hill. Visitors are allowed 1 or 2 visits every 30 days, and will receive three days worth of food for each member of their family. Other household items such as kitchen supplies, hygiene products, diapers and formula are also available.
The Salvation Army Food Pantry provides bagged groceries for needy families. The amount is based on the size of the household.

Blessed Sacrament Parish based food pantry serves an average of 225 families each month. As a member of The Food Pantries of the Capital District, they follow the geographic boundaries put in place by that group.

Available by appointment for emergency or temporary food needs, the Bethlehem Food Pantry is located at the Bethlehem Town Hall, Room 116, 445 Delaware Avenue, Delmar, NY. It is run through Bethlehem Senior Projects, Inc. with help from Bethlehem Senior Services Outreach workers and is kept stocked through the generosity of individuals and groups within the community. Senior Services volunteers keep the shelves in order. There may be a supply of food and drug store gift certificates for special needs at times.
Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish provides a food pantry for those in need within the community. Residents of Watervliet can receive a box of food every 8 weeks. Residents of Watervliet and Green Island can receive fresh fruit, vegetables and bread on a weekly basis.
