Description
Provides shelter for single homeless men and women 18 years and older. The maximum length of stay in the emergency shelter is 30 nights for men, however, if they fail to show up one night, their bed will likely be given away. The program can accommodate up to 745 people; over 450 men and 190 single women beds are available in a dormitory-style settings. The program can also accommodate men in chairs in the chapel who may return as often as needed.


People may stay up to 15 days for free; at that time they may elect to join one of the Mission's Life Transformation case management programs or be referred to another shelter. Those who choose a case management program are charged a maximum of $7 a day for their bed, three meals a day, storage, life skills training and case management. A minimum of $2 of this fee is placed in a savings account for the participant that will be available for withdrawal when they leave the program. Parents with children are expected to save up to 50% of their funds received from government assistance. 100% of savings is returned upon withdrawal.

The mission also provieds a drop-in center for people in the Skid Row area of downtown Los Angeles. Services are available during the lunch time schedule from 12:00pm to 3:00pm. Services include laundry facilities, mail service, restrooms and shower facilities. The program may also assist with simple banking needs.

Hours
Intake hours for men are Monday through Sunday, 12:00pm. Men line up and beds are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.

Intake hours for single women are Monday through Friday, 7:00am to 6:30pm; Saturday and Sunday, 12:00pm to 6:30pm on a first-come, first-served basis.

Drop in shelter and shower facility hours are from 12 pm to 3 pm.

Description
The mission provides a soup kitchen for anyone in the downtown Los Angeles area. Service is a lunchtime meal daily. There are separate times for men and for women.

Hours
Women's lunch, 12:00pm to 1:00pm seven days a week.
Men's lunch, 2:00pm to 2:30pm seven days a week.

Hope Gardens

Description
This transitional housing campus is for single women and children who are experiencing homelessness. Also provides supportive housing for senior women in the Sequoia Lodge.

Hope Gardens helps women transition from homelessness to independence within 12 to 36 months by offering long-term rehabilitation programs, services, and spiritual care.

Women and children have a safe place to live while they receive counseling, training, encouragement, and the real help they need to escape homelessness forever.

The Family Program is designed to help single mothers gain the skills, support, and necessary resources to recover from past trauma — while planning for the future and preparing to maintain permanent housing. They receive the following support and services:

Onsite therapy
Life skills education
Financial and job training
Educational and social support
Child care
Three daily meals
Access to medical and dental care
Transportation

The Youth Development Program provides a supportive and empowering environment for children who live with their mothers at Hope Gardens. They receive the following support and services:

Onsite tutoring
Social and character education
Mentoring
Leadership development
Family therapy
Planned recreational activities
Infants and preschool-aged children participate in onsite childcare and early childhood development programs.

The Senior Care Program offers affordable permanent housing for elderly ladies who have been devastated by homelessness — allowing them to live with dignity in their twilight years. They receive the following support and services:

A single-occupancy room with a personal bathroom
Three meals a day
24/7 security
Transportation
Medical and legal referrals
Access to a library, computers, dining area, kitchen, sewing room, living/community room, atrium chapel, patio, and garden grounds.

Eligibility
The goal is to move every senior woman, mother, and child off the streets of Skid Row and into the safety of Hope Gardens Family Center.

Description
The Union Rescue Mission provides a free community health clinic for low-income people in Los Angeles County.

Health services include, but are not limited to the following:
General medical care
Primary first aid
Dental care (must have a referral)

For anyone who wants to help, there are volunteer opportunities available.

Medical
Monday through Friday: 7:30am to 4:00pm
Tuesday: a doctor is present to issue prescriptions.

Dental
Monday through Friday: 9:00am to 4:30pm

Eligibility
For low-income people in Los Angeles County. There are no geographic restrictions. To receive dental care, clients must be referred by the Guadalupe Homeless Project, Los Angeles Mission, the Salvation Army, Homeless Health Care LA, Union Rescue Mission, or Weingart Project Paycheck.
