Description
The East Rancho Dominguez Service Center offers free food to the needy, including the undocumented and/or homeless. Services include a food line, a commodity supplemental food program for seniors, and ongoing emergency food assistance.

The Five Loaves and Two Fishes program offers groceries such as eggs, bread, canned and dry goods, sandwiches, salads, and other groceries. The program operates on a first-come, first-served basis.

The ongoing food assistance program offers items such as USDA surplus goods, canned goods, and packaged goods. Powdered milk is sometimes available. The amount given varies on family size and typically lasts three to four days. Assistance for this program can only be received once a month.

The commodity supplemental food program is for seniors 60 and older. The program provides 2 bags of groceries. Participants must register for the program. A hot, congregate meal is also available with a suggested (but not forced) donation of $2.25.

Volunteers are appreciated.

Commodity supplemental food program for seniors age 60 and older, the income guidelines for the program are - 1 person $1316/mo., for 2 people $1784/mo. There are no geographic restrictions for this program.

For the ongoing food program, walk in for service. Picture ID for head of household and proof of residence are required. Seniors may be asked to present proof of age. Individuals need to bring bags for the food.

For the Five Loaves and Two Fishes program. ID is not required.

The Florence/Firestone Service Center provides free food for anyone who lives in Los Angeles, including the homeless and/or undocumented. Services include ongoing and occasional food assistance. Ongoing food assistance provides a bag of canned and packaged goods; the amount given depends on family size, and people can only be assisted once a month. Occasional food assistance is targeted at people who are in urgent need of food and is provided based on availability; assistance is available only once.

The congregational meal program provides services for adults 60 years and older. Services include a congregate meal five days per week, public access computers and exercise classes/groups. The center also provides an exercise and fitness gym for seniors. There are age and geographic restrictions for some services. There is a suggested donation of $3.25 (optional).
