The South Antelope Valley Emergency Services provides free groceries four times per fiscal year for families who don't qualify for food stamps or are waiting for food stamps to be approved. Each order of food provides three meals for seven days. You can only receive assistance after 30 days of each order. After the initial order, recipients must show an extra expense that prevented the household from purchasing food during that month, such as an unanticipated auto repair bill or medical expense.
The Emergency Food Assistance Program provides a small food order to supplement the entire monthly food needs of individuals and families. Assistance can be received every two weeks.
The Traditional Senior Food Program provides food once per month to seniors 62 and older who are on Social Security/SSI, have been denied food stamps, and live independently. The amount of food given is intended to significantly supplement the recipient's monthly food needs.
The Second Senior Food Program is for seniors 60+ that meet income guidelines and is available even if you live with extended family. The food order is provided once a month and the extended household can still participate in other eligible food programs. This food order is intended to provide supplement the senior’s monthly food needs.
There are also meaningful opportunities for volunteers, students, and low-income adult and senior job trainees to serve their community.
